A Dark Beginning To Summer

Into two weeks of summer, Dadu died.

Eight years absence, is a long, long, time.

The funeral we missed due to mom's sister having cremated him immediately, failing to tell us on time that he had died, and waiting till just before the ceremony. After she'd disowned me last year with threats of lawyers for no reason, how could i even approach her. We arrived in New Delhi, India, my mother braving the situation of her father now passed. I am glad i got to see him in January, if anything, my letter to him in April was a form of good bye and good luck. With cruelty from the once, previous closest relatives, to being outcasted. The ashes were immersed, and i think this would be last trip, for possibly the last time.

I felt like all i had lived for in Delhi was now gone.

Adjusting to home, "home," gets more difficult each year, i suppose that's the way it's going to be. Or perhaps i'm going to be that third culture kid who never learns a sense of complete detachment.

I've finally learned to relax and read again, i missed getting lost in the thousands of words scattered amongst pages of endless literature. 'Edge' is pretty amazing at long distance, i don't think i've been happier and he is one of the biggest contributing factors. Counting down the days till i finally see him again; it's been way too long.

Photographing and freelance interning is great, i've never loved photography more, and i have probably taken some of the most passionate shots this summer. That's something i don't think that will die within me any time soon.

I've never been good at endings, so i leave with the thought of

"after everything you've been through, if something good happens, shouldn't you embrace it or at least be open to the possibility?
